This year, our family Christmas outreach is focused on serving kids in our local community. We are partnering with two ministries: Raleigh Rescue Mission and Angel Tree. Listed below are several ways you can get involved.
- For Raleigh Rescue Mission (RRM), we are asking families to put together “quarantine bags.” These bags will be either for boys or girls, with 2 age group focuses (2-5, 6-10). When kids come into RRM, they often have to be in a room and entertain themselves for several hours. These bags should be filled with activities that will keep them busy. Bags can be picked up at the table on Sunday morning to be filled and returned.
- RRM also has a need for shoes and socks for kids ages infant-5 years old. They have requested packages of socks that include 4-8 pairs and the shoes should be new.
- Angel Tree (Prison Fellowship) partners with churches to provide Christmas gifts to children on behalf of men and women who are currently in prison. North Wake has been assigned 11 children to buy gifts for. Once the gifts are bought, we will have the privilege of delivering those gifts to each family in Raleigh.
Here are some ideas for what to put in the bags for RRM:
- Activity books
- Coloring books
- Slinkies
- Craft packets
- Toy cars
- Dolls
- Playdough
- Paddle balls
- Toy animals
- Building blocks
- Legos
Collection for all these items will run from November 28th to December 10th. You can drop off your items on Sunday or arrange another time by emailing children@northwake.com. There will be a table set up in the courtyard on November 14th and November 21 to pick up your bags or to choose an angel tree card. Stop by and see us!
