The season of Lent is almost upon us! The start date for Lent this year is next Wednesday, February 22nd. Throughout church history Lent has been a 40 day season of preparing for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ at Easter. If you aren’t familiar with this season on the church calendar, here’s a quick description from Paul Tripp:

“Lent is about remembering the suffering and sacrifice of the Savior. Lent is about confessing our ongoing battle with sin. Lent is about fasting, and not just from food; we willingly and joyfully let go of things in this world that have too much of a hold on us. And Lent is about giving ourselves in a more focused way to prayer, crying out for the help that we desperately need from the only one who is able to give it.”

The journey of Lent is one we want to do together as a church family. To help with that, we are encouraging NWers to consider joining together with friends, family, or grow group members to incorporate a simple Lenten daily devotional into our daily rhythms during Lent. You can view both recommended resources at the Lent table in the lobby.

The Sinner/Saint Lenten Devotional

This Lenten devotional we are recommending for 2026 is a new one to us. The content is brief but rich as it encourages us to run to the righteousness of Christ and His finished work even as we grieve our sin (very Romans-esque!).  Each day features a bible passage, a short reflection, written prayer, and suggestions for further reading.

MAUNDY THURSDAY CANDLELIGHT COMMUNION SERVICE

Thursday, April 2nd – 7pm

Join us as we gather to remember the divinely directed events of the day before the crucifixion. Jesus did more than just teach His disciples on this night. He used vivid examples that began with washing His disciples’ feet.

The service will include Scripture Readings, Songs and the Lord’s Table. Come and worship. Prepare your heart for the celebration of Easter by reflecting on Christ’s sacrifice.

Childcare is provided for birth through 2nd grade.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY

Sunday, April 5th, 9am and 10:45am

The empty tomb on that first Easter changed the world forever. Jesus’ miraculous death and resurrection brought us everlasting life. If you’re looking for a new beginning — a fresh start from guilt or past mistakes — join us Easter Sunday at North Wake Church (9am or 10:45am) as we celebrate this historic event and hear how the promise of Easter brings hope and changes lives!

Activities will be available for children birth – 5th grade during both services and youth ages 6th-12th grade during the 10:45am service.
