**July 5th and July 12th (Shadow Sunday) gives our new volunteers an opportunity to shadow the volunteers who are currently serving in that role in order to see first hand how it works.
Serve Job Descriptions
Welcome Teams
- Hospitality Server – Hospitality team members coordinate, set up and clean up Sunday morning coffee. Also responsible for communion preparations. 9am servers will need to arrive by 8am to prepare coffee for the 1st service.
- Lobby Greeters – Greet and welcome each attender at the lobby doors.
- Connection Team – Greet and assist new guests. Arrive by 8:30am. The Connection Team is the 1st group guests at North Wake will interact with. The member of this group is someone who is servant-hearted, constantly asking the question, “How can I best serve you?”. Details include setting up the welcome area at 8:30am (first hour), tearing the receiving area down (second hour), welcoming guests, seating them and everything in between! The purpose of this role is to connect guests to Christ and to His Church. These persons will need to be knowledgeable about the NW Campus and ministries as well as friendly, good at asking questions and connecting with folks.
- Facility Set-Up/Groundskeeper – Arrive and be ready to go prior to the start of your service (8:00am for first hour or 10:25am for second hour respectively). Set up ADC Classes and Youth classes if serving in first hour, set out and return parking signs, leaf blow before first service, wipe off benches in courtyard, walk a lap around campus, checking various parking lots, and entryways for trash, dirt, or other things which are out of place, and clean up as you are able.
- Feed Ministry – Feed desires to reach the lost for Christ by feeding them spiritually and physically while building a community around our guests. These positions are for North Wake Members willing to share the Gospel through ministering to Feed guests on Sunday Mornings. Arrive by 8:20am and serve until 10:30am each Sunday.
- Worship Center Greeters – Greet each attender with a welcome smile, hand out materials (if needed), and help attenders find seats.
Worship – Tech Teams
- Video Recording Tech – Responsible for recording the 9am service. Camera experience is not required.

Soundboard Engineer – Responsible for mixing the sound for either the worship center or the Live-Stream. Mixing experience is not required but is welcomed. Humility, a willingness to learn, and good hearing are all that’s needed.

ProPresenter Tech (Screen Slides) – Responsible for running everything that appears on the screen in the worship center, from song lyrics and sermon notes to video presentations. A basic familiarity with computers and software is needed.
Kids Ministry Leadership Teams
Liaisons, check-in staff, and ICAN buddies arrival times: Those serving at 9:00 should arrive by 8:40, and those serving at 10:45 should arrive by 10:25.
- Children’s Liaison – (Contact children@northwake.com to apply) The liaison serves as the main contact for Elementary teachers & greeters and works with the children’s director to handle needs that arise on Sunday mornings.
- Nursery Liaison – (Contact children@northwake.com to apply) The liaison serves as the main contact for Nursery & Preschool teachers & greeters and works with the children’s director to handle needs that arise on Sunday Mornings.
- Exceptional Child Buddy/ICAN – We have several exceptional children (Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, etc.) who require a one on one buddy to hang out with them on Sunday mornings so their parents can attend the worship service. No formal training is required, just a willingness to learn and to serve!
- Child Check In – We have two check in stations (located in the lobbies of buildings 1 and 2) that need friendly faces to welcome and assist our families and register new families. In addition, they will assist the Nursery/Children’s Liaisons with needs that arise on Sunday mornings.
Classroom volunteer arrival times: Those serving in the 9:00 service should arrive by 8:45, and those serving in the 10:45 service should arrive by 10:30.
- Babies & Crawlers Team – This team cares for babies that are not yet crawling and those that are crawling but not yet walking by feeding them, changing them, holding them, and sharing Scripture through songs, prayers and read-aloud stories.
- Walkers Team – Volunteers in this class will care for babies that are walking and under the age of 2 by changing diapers as needed, giving bottles/snacks as directed by parents, preparing and teaching Bible truths, and taking children for a ride in the buggy as weather permits.
- Two year olds Team – This team cares for our 2-year-olds by changing diapers as needed, distributing snacks, preparing and teaching Bible truths, facilitating crafts, and taking children out to the playground for scheduled recess time.
- Three & Four year old Teams – Responsibilities of caring for our 3 and 4-year-olds include changing diapers &/or making sure children go to the restroom, distributing snacks, preparing and teaching Bible truths, facilitating crafts, and taking children out to the playground for scheduled recess time.
- Kindergarten – Fifth grade Teams – These volunteers care for our Kindergarten through 5th grade students by distributing snacks, escorting children to restrooms as needed, preparing and teaching Bible truths, facilitating crafts, and taking children out to the playground for scheduled recess time. Teachers should expect to spend time during the week to prepare the lesson.
- Rotating Staff/Weekly Children’s Subs – These volunteers should be prepared to serve wherever needed in our children’s classes. This may be as the lead teacher or the assistant. Advance notice about the exact serve position will be given whenever possible and curriculum will be provided for those filling in for lead teachers. Rotating staff should plan to serve every Sunday and will be contacted by our sub coordinator as to where there is a need.
Student Ministry Teams
- Grow Group Leader — Lead meaningful conversations and help students grow in their faith. Grow Group Leaders serve a 2-year term, partnering with a co-leader to guide bi-weekly group nights built around Sunday teaching and intentional discipleship.
- Real Talk Leader — Real Talk leaders are integral to the health of our student groups. They serve as long as they are able and promote with the students as they move through each Grow Group. Ideally real talk leaders will remain with a group for students throughout their entire time in student ministry. These leaders are the relational backbone for their groups, and as a result facilitate our more vulnerable soul care nights (real talk nights) on a bi-weekly basis.
- Leader Childcare — Help make student ministry possible behind the scenes. Leader Childcare volunteers care for the children of student ministry leaders on Sunday evenings so leaders can focus on investing in students.
- Welcome Team — Create a warm, safe, and inviting first impression for every student who walks through our doors. The Welcome Team helps guests feel at home, keeps our student area secure, and connects new students into our ministry.
- Grow Group Friend — This position is designed to connect trustworthy, mature followers of Christ to Grow Groups for the purpose of intentionally developing relationships with students and supporting Grow Group Leaders.
- Student Ministry Buddy (Special Needs Helper) – Help every student feel seen, valued, and included. Student Ministry Buddies provide support by being paired with students who have special needs, in order to create a welcoming environment where everyone can fully participate and belong.
