READ: Matthew 1:1, 18-25
In 2012, Larry preached a sermon from the genealogy of Jesus found in Matthew 1. That sermon and the sermon from the following Sunday sparked an idea for a new hymn that would express the glorious significance of the way in which God the Father brought His Son into this world. This Sunday we will be examining the Scriptures that unpack the importance that Jesus is the Son of Abraham, the Son of David, and the Son of God. As you prepare for Sunday, read through these lyrics and listen to the song here. Take time to give thanks to God for the promises given to Jesus’ ancestors and their providence of God that brought about their fulfillment in the person of Jesus Christ.
A Stable Turned a Temple
Oh glorious song, from the host of heaven calling Proclaiming peace, goodwill towards men For the brightest Star of Abraham Descends to bless all the sons of men Oh glorious song, from the host of Heaven calling Proclaiming peace, goodwill towards men For the brightest star of Abraham Descends to bless all the sons of men Son of Abraham, bring your blessing To all the nations of the earth Oh God who transforms this stable to a temple Come, free us from the curse Oh glorious light, dispelling the darkness The Word of God in human form Heir to David's throne eternal The King of kings to us is born Son of David, bring Your kingdom Here on earth as is above Oh Prince of Peace in this stable turned a temple Come change us with your love Oh glorious Son, begotten of the Father Hallelujahs fill the vaulted skies Oh praise, praise the name of the God who saves Our King, our God, our Sacrifice Oh Jesus, Son of God now Son of man Love that descends to a stable turned a temple Sleep in the straw of Bethlehem
