In the sermon yesterday (11/23/25), I invited you all to join me in fighting to NOT be numbered amongst the 9 but to join the company of the 1 (see Luke 17.11-19 to make sense of that!).  I suggested 3 levels of joining in that transforming battle to become more thankful people.  Here they are just as a reminder:

Level 1: Tonight at the end of your day, pause and thank God for 5 things He has been kind to you in this day. That’s it – just end this day thanking God for 5 specific things from the day.

Level 2: Stretch Level 1 from just one day to 5 days – ending each day with thanks to God for 5 specific things.

Then add this morning exercise to  the start of your day. Get on your knees (because that is where the 1 thankful leper was – it’s a great place from which to give thanks!) and do 2 things:

  1. Join in the Great Thanksgiving and thank Jesus for bearing the cross and all its agony and shame in love for you!
  2. Review the story of the 10 lepers (Luke 17.11-19) and ask God to help you not to stand thanklessly amongst the 9, but to stand with the 1 and be increasingly mindful and thankful of His mercies this day.

Level 3:  Do Level 2 for the next 30 days!  Hopefully this extended practice will become ingrained and begin to truly shape our hearts towards the joy of God-honoring thankfulness each day!

Thankful for you all,
