Holy, Righteous & Good
Paul says that the law is good if used legitimately (1 Tim 1:8). He also says in Romans that the law is upheld and holy, and that the commandment is holy, righteous, and good (Romans 3:31; Romans 7:12). So what is meant by all this high praise?
In this 8 week course, we will explore the Old Testament Law (from Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) all the way through to the New Covenant, helping us understand why the writers of the New Testament praise the Law as they show its fulfillment in Christ. We will begin by studying examples of the law (i.e. the Ten Commandments) and tracing them to Jesus. We will then broaden to big-picture themes like God’s prior grace in covenant-making and the tabernacle as a shadow of Christ’s work and God’s indwelling presence today.
