This past Sunday (7/19/20) we closed our service by praying this prayer together.  It was originally included in the Covenant Renewal Service crafted by John Wesley way back in 1755.  But he attributes the prayer to puritan Richard Alleine who lived in the 1600’s!  So believing folks have been praying this prayer for nearly 400 years!

When I pray this prayer, it helps me re-order my life around my great King Jesus and his will for me.  It helps protect me from the folly of getting that backwards – of trying to re-order the world around me and my desires!  I hope it serve you in these matters as it does me.

I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
