I mentioned this prayer by John Wesley in Sunday’s Sermon (4/7/19) as a way to pray towards a cross-bearing life. Use it as a way to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow the crucified Christ!

“I am no longer my own, but thine.

Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.

Put me to doing, put me to suffering.

Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,

exalted for thee or brought low for thee.

Let me be full, let me be empty.

Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I freely and heartily yield all things

to thy pleasure and disposal.

And now, O glorious and blessed God,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.

And the covenant which I have made on earth,

let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.”

Making this verse into a daily prayer is a beautiful help, too…

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”  Luke 9:23

You could paraphrase it by praying something like:

Lord, I do want to come after You, help me deny myself and take up my cross and follow You this day!

If you wear cross jewelry that you put on each day, you could pray this prayer when you do that!
